Tom Croft Injury Update

Leicester Tigers’ injury nightmare continued yesterday, with Tom Croft and Toby Flood both being replaced in the first half of England’s game with South Africa.

Scans have revealed that Croft has fractured his right shoulder blade, and is likely to face a spell on the sidelines. The news on Flood was better though, who has been cleared to play following a blow to the head.

England have released the following update on Croft, Flood, Charlie Hodgson and Chris Ashton:

Tom Croft
Scans show evidence of a fracture to his right scapula. He was discharged from Charing Cross hospital this morning and will return to his club to see a specialist this week to determine if any further action needs to be taken and how long recovery will take.

Charlie Hodgson
His bruised left foot will be reassessed on return to his club in consultation with the England medical team.

Toby Flood and Chris Ashton
Both players have recovered from blows to the head and are returning to be reassessed by their club medical teams.

  1. Will be interesting to see if Croft makes it back in time for the 6N’s or not. Fingers crossed he will, but if he doesn’t, who will get the no.6 jersey? Hopefully not Haskell. I’d be happy to see Robshaw or Dowson get the nod

  2. Hope Croft recovers well as he is looking to be a potentially great player. However, being a Welshman would it sound too bad if his recovery allowed him to make his return in time for England’s second game in the 6 Nations?
