Wasps woes continue as top scorer Wade is ruled out for three months

After suffering their sixth league defeat in a row against Leicester last weekend, London Wasps have been dealt a huge blow after winger and top try scorer Christian Wade was ruled out for the next three months.

20 year old Wade, who in many people’s opinion would have been a certainty for the EPS squad announced tomorrow morning, suffered a groin injury against Worcester in the 0-6 home defeat two weeks ago, and is having surgery this evening. Enjoying a stellar debut season, Wade has scored a remarkable 10 tries in 16 appearances for Wasps, including two hat-tricks against Leicester Tigers and Bordeaux-Bègles.

He joins a growing injury list which includes Nick Robinson, Tom Rees, Joe Launchbury, Chris Bell, John Hart and Ross Filipo, whilst the club have also lost Simon Shaw to Toulon and Steve Thompson to retirement in mid-season. Their next Premiership match is at home to Saracens on the 12th of February.

  1. Not sure about a certainty for the EPS. Saxons definitely. Shame for him. Hope he doesn’t turn into another James Simpson-Daniel. Undoubted talent but injury prone and always coming at the wrong time.
