Gallagher Premiership 2018/19: Round 14 Predictions

Gallagher Premiership

I managed 5 out of 6 in Round 13, correctly picking Gloucester to beat Exeter and Northampton to beat Sale (although not by 50 points!), but I also had Bristol for a home win against Wasps, which ultimately cost me the GSP.

By all accounts Wasps played some good rugby, and Bristol did well to claim a losing bonus point, leaving them 8 points clear of Newcastle in 12th.

Here are my predictions for Round 14 of the Gallagher Premiership.

Gloucester v Saracens
A very tough pair of fixtures for Gloucester, but there’s no better time to play the best two teams in the league whilst their internationals are missing. With no Owen Farrell, Maro Itoje, either Vunipola, Liam Williams etc etc, I’m backing the home side for another big win. Sarries also haven’t won at Kingsholm since 2015!
Gloucester by 2

Wasps v Sale
Last week’s humbling at Franklin’s Gardens has brought the Sharks back down to earth, whilst a couple of wins for Wasps has catapulted them into 5th place, such is the mid-table congestion of mediocre teams. I think Wasps will win this too, and they’ll be pushing for the playoff places. Wasps by 13

Harlequins v Bristol
Bristol have still not managed an away win this season, and Quins will want revenge for their defeat at the Memorial Stadium back in September. Another losing BP would be welcome for Bristol though. Harlequins by 6

Exeter v Newcastle

The wheels are coming off for the Falcons, with narrow defeats turning into heavier ones. A trip to Sandy Park won’t be much fun either. Exeter by 18

Northampton v Bath
Bath have won four of the last five against the Saints, but the East Midlanders have turned their form around with a notable win over Exeter and last week’s thrashing of Sale. I’m going with home advantage here. Northampton by 4

Worcester v Leicester
The Tigers are down in 9th and without an away win in the league since October, and local rivals Worcester will be targeting wins in all of their remaining home games to ensure survival. Strangely, the away team has won this fixture on the last four occasions, but I’m giving it to the home team here. Worcester by 2
