  1. I think England will win on Saturday but it will be close. Personally think too many careers are on the line for there not to be a win.
If we lost stu would be the least successful coach ever for England?
Ashton got us a world cup final. Robinson won a six nations( not grand slam)?
Johnson got a six nations and at least qualified from the group stages

  2. Beat waiting on a “rate the game” for the wales/Fiji but it hasn’t shown up.
I predicted 27pt and it was 10pt, people thought I was crazy but a few things, 2 disallowed tries (14pt) one of which I’m convinced was a try (the 2nd one) but I’ll let it go cos we got the win lol

I think fitness still shone through, they were still in attack mode come 80minutes and given you could see how tired they were come 20minutes it was incredible to see them keep going, we got opened up in the 2nd half and that was born of tiredness but only a few days ago they were at twick so I can forgive that.

However, everytime Cuthbert steps on the pitch and darns his shirt I support him, I want him to get over his hump and play, but why o why he keeps getting a shirt I have no idea. If he players against Aus we lose. Put Williams in FB and move Morgan to the wing. It seems like the squad is trying to continually involve Cuthbert and it is like throwing away points. I don’t remember the timing but I would estimate around 60min, Cuthbert get’s the ball, beats 1 defender and knocks on, ref plays advantage and Cuthbert stands their, does nothing let’s the guy pick up & offload and then we have scramble defense. I wish it was a one off but it’s not, I can accept a player screwing up it’s fine it happens to them all, Morgan’s offload to North’s feet for example. But as was shown by others, when you screw up, back on your feet and correct it. When Cuthbert does it he wallows in it and causes further problems for us. Given the lads are going to be rested for Aus, if we have Morgan on the Wing,Williams at FB, Hook & Anscombe on the bench, we have a fair chance of winning the game. Leave Cuthbert back in the hotel.

Also slight “nod” to Warburton here, picking out the 3pts instead of the corner, guy understands his role and made the smart choice, yup could of gone for corner then had 10min to go for bonus point, but putting the win in the bag was the important aspect. Destiny is in our hands now, if England beat Aus, then we can go into the Aus game 3 from 3 and aim for 4 from 4, if we lost this then our tournament would of been over cos we wouldn’t of had the confidence to take on Aus.

    1. take the rose tinted specs off, this was a very very lucky win for wales. interceptions gifted wales points, poor Fiji finishing + missed penalties settled the nerves. Fiji were a far better side. That is without the neck tackle pulled out of the ruck which flew in the face of the IRB edict, just a penalty said the ref, yellow or red card if the player had gone to ground.
      8 for Fiji
      6 for Wales
      5 for the Ref
Good luck to both our teams v Australia

      1. It’s not rose tinted, I think the lads overall players poor rugby but they were tired, I know they can and will player better next week just a question of if it’s enough.

As for the neck roll, I actually thought it should of been a yellow. But I think within the first 10min their was like 4 from Fiji, so went both ways.

        1. It is outrageous that the neck roll only incurred a penalty, especially when you consider Fiji were missing their star player to suspension for the same offence – a wild miscarriage of justice, with even the judicial officer’s report stated that he didn’t even do a neck roll. Davies’s was as clear-cut a neck roll as you’ll see.

I’d like to have seen how Wales coped with 14 men. Impressed as I was by their fitness after only a few days break, I reckon Fiji would have stretched them big time, could have really got the old sevens shit going…

Most enjoyable part of the game was just after half time when Wales seemingly couldn’t resist taking on Fiji at their own game. Entertaining flowing rugby, really great to watch. I was really hoping Fiji would kick on after that beautiful try, but Wales got a grip and put a forearm against Fiji’s collective throat. Which was the right thing to do.

      2. Col, you can be as derogatory as you like. Wales are P3 W3, and have taken 13 points from a possible 15 on offer. That’s not a bad effort at this stage of the competition.

        All blind luck though, undoubtedly…

      3. Really have no idea what game you were watching. Fiji are a strong side, but never looked like beating Wales in that game.

Thought Wales were pretty average but the result was never in doubt, and it certainly wasn’t lucky.

  3. It all hinges on Saturday.
(think my maths is right) if we win we’re through(unless urg stop us getting a bonus point). Because we’d have three bonus points with you guys only able to pick up one more.
That would make it a straight shoot out with you and aus, I think you’d do it. That would be my ideal, I like us both through.
From Wales point of view I guess you’ll be supporting aus, cuz if they win you’re through.

  4. Wales is def my 2nd favourite team. Love their never-say-die attitiude. They were very lucky to get out of the Fiji game with a win. Especially if Fiji converted half their kicks, 3 very kickable penalties MISSED. But Wales just need to put their feet up and recharge their batteries and they will be good to go…hopefully all the way to the FINAL
