Scotland Rugby Squad for Autumn Internationals 2016

Vern Cotter has announced the Scotland squad to prepare for the 2016 Autumn Internationals.

WP Nel does not seem to be on the list, suggesting he has picked up an injury.

What are your thoughts on the squad?

  1. As far as Scotland squads go – this is one of the best we’ve seen for a while. However, without WP Nell and Rory Sutherland the front row is lacking and that will be a problem. I also don’t get why Matt Scott has been overlooked, since he is fit and has been playing well for Gloucester. However, backs look good otherwise.

  2. Could have done with some better options at No.8 but then again Ashe and Denton are both crocked
Huw Jones (or should it have read, who’s Jones?) over Matt Scott
Front row looks weaker than it has for a while without WP

  3. WP is a huge miss. Taylor and Dickinson have played next to no rugby recently. However, apart form Matt Scott missing, the squad looks good. Huw Jones and Hamish Watson both very exciting prospects! Perhaps Magnus Bradbury unlucky to miss out.

  4. Rory Hughes unfortunate to miss out too
I’m expecting some special things from Zander Fagerson, I reckon he had the talent to start pushing WP for the starting spot
Crucially there’s enough depth of Scottish players to allow for some biggish injuries without it tearing the team apart. Except for Finn, Scotland are toast without him
