Group of Death is Pool 4, as far as I can see! Goung to be a tough for any 1 team to run away with it…

  2. Glad Tigers have avoided one of the French big guns from tier one, but would have preferred avoiding Montpellier. Mind you the options then would have been Castres or Racing, neither of whom would have been much better. Nice to avoid the Ospreys for once too!

  3. Pool 1 and 4 look brutal. Wouldn’t fancy picking a winner out of those two groups. And due to how tough they’ll be we would be unlikely to see a second place get out of those groups.

Leicester and Saracens will be pretty happy. Pool 6 looks a bit boring to me (no offence to the teams in there, but no scary teams in there!), maybe Gloucester could have a run at it next year! Obviously Munster are very tough but not the side they were a few years back.

Toulon should walk through pool 2.

  4. Don’t think the best second place finishers will be coming from pools 1, 4 or 5. Looks like Sarries stand the best chance of flying the flag for the premiership. Pleased to see Chiefs get a fairer group though!

  5. Possibly Leicester’s best pool for some time.

Will be interesting to see how Exeter get on in their pool. I don’t expect them to turn Toulon over, but they’ll be looking at Glasgow and Cardiff as winnable games.

Pool 4 – nasty. That’s where I saw Leicester ending up.

  6. The difference in the strength of Pools shows up the seeding process a bit. Pool 2 has 3 teams that had only 4 wins between them in last years cup.

It’s clearly going back a few years to grade the teams. I think we would see more even pools if this was done over a shorter results period.

  7. Can’t read too much into the draw yet – this time last year Sale looked pretty good and the Blues were a potentially tough ask too! And we know what kind of seasons they both had…

Apart from Pool 3, which I have to say looks as if both Sarries and Toulouse will qualify, all the other pools look like they will be close… Pool 4 probably the Group of Death right now, but who knows what will happen next season!

  8. So Pool 3 will certainly provide one of the two best runners up.

Pool 5 with the other (stronger) Italian outfit will definitely not, as Treviso are no mugs especially at home and Ulster, Leicester and Montpelier will all inflict damage on each other.

  9. As an Ulster fan I’m a tad concerned, we should be o.k all going to plan home and away to Treviso, im confident about Montpellier at home but in France it will be tough, nervous about playing the tigers, lets home we play like we did 2 years ago at ravers! Pool 4 looks rough it’ll be interesting to see the new look Racing Metro team, the real winners here are Munster, Toulon and probably Saracens!
