  1. Good game from England considering the experience in the French pack. I thought Burgess and Slade worked well. Helped by some quick ball from Wiggy and Farrell.
Wood Clarke and Morgan didn’t look too convincing. Webber was the most uninspiring forward in the first half and Cowan-Dickie was good in the loose but his throwing was awful. Surely George has to be second choice?
Goode worked very well with Watson and May and his kick for May’s try was outstanding! Watson wins mom in my opinion. Constant threat down the right wing.

  2. Won 1st half fell away badly 2nd half.Back 3 excellent.May different player to last season.Slade very good Burgess ok.Overall 6/10

  3. France’s pack had 354 caps to our 141, and it showed – but we managed the win. To play that poorly and still come out on the right side of the scoreline is a positive of sorts!

I think we’ll be in trouble if Marler gets crocked, but let’s not forget out of the starting pack only Wood is currently first choice.

  4. Can’t help thinking that whatever England have been doing in training they need to start lobbing some serious iron about. Once again first up tackling was poor with players being bumped off far too easily. I can’t remember the last time an England player really boshed an opponent, either offensively or in defence
    .
George has to come in at hooker surely? C Dickie was way off with his throwing and Webber was non existent.

Morgan was very quiet and may not make the cut, sadly.

Slammin and Slade worked quite well together with Slade showing great perception and soft hands.

Another negative was the decision making, which really has to improve rapidly.Wood’s electing to go for the corner rather than three points was just inexcusable.

All in all a curate’s egg. England played some nice ,flowing stuff but to see them get so worked over by the French pack was a bit of a shock to be honest and will have offered encouragement to both Wales and the Aussies that they can be beaten in an arm wrestle.

England used to be the big, gnarly,”have some of that” brigade. how times appear to have changed.

    • Let’s not forget this was a largely second choice pack- even third choice in some positions. The pack that plays the world cup will be largely different and I personal believe will be a match for this French pack, which if we’re honest looks very good.
Also, why would this be encouraging four Wales? Going off just the warm ups they got taken apart by Ireland at home, we won?

    • One first-choice starter in the pack. I hope the Aussies or Welsh DO think that’s how we’ll fare in the pool stages.
